The knarly Frankincense trees grow along the coastal areas of Oman, Somalia & Yemen, without soil, out of weather worn marble rocks. Young trees furnish the most valuable gum, amber in color and extremely aromatic. Older trees yield merely a clear, glutinous fluid resembling varnish. Resins become begin to crystallize almost immediately after harvesting appearing translucent as the hardening takes place. Harvested from May through late October until the winter rains arrive.
